Its easy to think you are progressing and everything is on track but its not until you look at the figures you realise you are not moving anywhere very fast or in fact your actually going backward.
Be proactive and try to stop the problems before they occur and always make sure things are moving in the correct direction.
Google webmasters, Bing webmasters, Google analytics, Alexa and SEOMoz all have great figures to help you track progress (and these are just a few, there are hundreds).
